Our History & Legacy

The School of Information Risk Management (SIRM) has a long-standing reputation for offering excellent undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various disciplines. These include Cyber Security, Information Security and Assurance, Business Management, Health Care Management, and Computing. SIRM has partnered with several UK universities and awarding bodies to provide these programs.

Started as The Institute of Information Risk Management (IIRM) was established in April 2006 under the umbrella of Impact Risk Consultants Limited, which was IIRM’s mother company. It had a state-of-the-art training infrastructure and resources. The building was located in the heart of central London, Holborn, and spans five floors. IIRM established relationships with two reputable universities, The University of Greenwich and Staffordshire University.

Later rebranded as SIRM, It developed expertise in offering Information Security and Assurance, and Business Management programs in partnership with various UK universities, including The University of Greenwich, The University of Gloucestershire, The University of Derby, The University of Chester, and Anglia Ruskin University. SIRM was a pioneer in using the ISACA model curriculum for its Information Security and Assurance course, offering CISA and CISM programs in the UK in 2007.

SIRM was one of the only few institutes in the United Kingdom aligned with the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). ISACA provides CISA and CISM professionals, who are in high demand with high salary packages worldwide. With its relationships with UK universities and ISACA alignment, SIRM provided its students with the best education to support their careers.

In later years SIRM succeeded in securing a funding contract with Brooklands College, a publicly funded college, for the provision of Level 4 and above Apprenticeship qualifications in Cyber Security. The Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) has named Brooklands College as the best apprenticeship provider.

SIRM has been highly recognized as a training provider. It has been approved as a Training Organization by the Skills and Funding Agency, ASIC (The Accreditation Services for International Colleges), and AISABE (The Association of Information Security Auditors and Business Executives), as well as BCS (British Computer Society).
