Why this diploma?
A DET certification (formerly known as DTTLS certification) is one of the most valuable certifications to possess if you want a career in the post-education industry. This Diploma will enable you to apply for QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills), additionally providing you with a variety of skill sets and knowledge.
What is this Diploma?
The DTLLS credential is now known as the Diploma in Education and Training (DET). Although the DTLLS technically no longer exists, the names are frequently used interchangeably. DET is a recognized teaching credential for the post-16 education sector. Although many professionals and even nonprofessionals prefer to acquire the Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications before advancing to the DET, these credentials are not necessary for enrollment. The DET is the most advanced Education and Training qualification available. If you have the necessary academic abilities to complete assignments at the degree level, are employed as a teacher, and are willing to put in the compulsory 100 practice hours of teaching experience, you can sign up directly for the level 5 course. we aim to provide guidance to all of our students even if they lack prior academic writing experience or have fallen out of touch with academic writing.
This Diploma in QCF is acknowledged as being equal to its Certificate of Education qualifications within the framework of Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ).
What’s next?
The following options are available with a complete portfolio for our students upon the completion of this course:
- Advancing towards a Bachelor of Arts in Education or BA in Education (BEd).
- Employment in a variety of jobs, including functional skills instructors, online/e-tutors, teachers for higher education, tutors, training officers, and managers.
- Once you complete this certification successfully, you can improve your career profile and apply for QTLS status. It implies that you are qualified to work as a state school teacher in the 14+ domain (for GCSE and A-Level students).
- Advancing towards the Level 6 Diploma in Teaching and Learning.
- Advancing towards the Level 7 Diploma in Education Management and Leadership.
What is the scope?
With this qualification you can teach in a variety of fields, including Culinary Arts, Engineering, Music Teaching, Performing Arts, Driving Instruction, Hospitality & Catering, NHS training, Personal Services, Teacher’s Training, Freelance Teaching and Training, and many more.
Course contents?
Teaching practice:
Teaching practice is one of the key components of the programme. It enables our students to demonstrate their understanding of the theories of teaching and learning that have been taught to them. Through these techniques, novices will be able to display their ability to effectively prepare and deliver courses as well as assess their students.
The authentication of at least 100 practice hours of teaching practice will be expected from our trainees. They will be kept under close supervision for eight hours at least eight times, where mentors will simultaneously offer them their seasoned advice
which will surely help them to improve their teaching abilities and advance.
The following teaching practices will be taught:
- Teaching across a variety of spectrums.
- Educating various types of students.
- Acquiring the ability to instruct and manage students both individually and in groups.
- Increasing experience through mentors’ constructive criticism.
How many Units in the course?
This course consists of seven units:
UNIT 1 — Developing teaching, learning, and assessment in ET
UNIT 2 — Teaching, learning, and assessment in ET
UNIT 3 — Theories, principles, and models in ET
UNIT 4 — Wider professional practice and development in ET
UNIT 5 — Developing, using, and organizing resources in a professional manner
UNIT 6 — Inclusive practice
UNIT 7 — Teaching in a specialized area
What skills do the diploma holders gain and exhibit?
- Knowledge of the theories and guidelines for effective teaching and learning.
- Understanding and knowledge of sophisticated techniques and support communication for assessing and addressing various learning scenarios.

Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training Work Placement
At SIRM We take great pride in being pioneers who can cater to the various needs of our trainee teachers. Due to the high demand for work placements, we have therefore started the following programme:
- A qualified mentor will be assigned to you to enable optimal training procedures.
- This work placement will allow you to complete the 100 hours of teaching, which will satisfy the requirement for the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.
- A member of our academic staff will observe eight hours of teaching throughout the work placement. You would receive constructive criticism so that you could enhance your teaching style and satisfy industry standards, particularly those set by Ofsted.
- You don’t have to visit our location in person. You will be required to conduct virtual classes from your home as part of the job placement.
- If you have a full-time job or other obligations, you can attend classes on the weekends or in the evenings. However, if you are free during working hours, we can arrange your sessions at that time. As a result, you’ll be able to complete the 100 hours more quickly.
